Rudolf’s hand-coloured drawings are small, but they have something very special. Not only because each drawing (named “EIPOP“ by the artist) is accompanied by a poem written in the famous Limerick rhythm. They are also remarkable because their seemingly naïve content and style is characterised by(self-) irony, mockery and humour. The manner of the depictions and the choice of themes are somewhat reminiscent of German Expressionism, which can be deduced from the artist’s German origins. The EIPOPS themes revolve exclusively around events, which the artist himself experienced against the background of the dynamics of large cities, the sometimes odd-looking behaviour of their inhabitants, and the colourful coexistence of many different people from different cultures. “RooftopDancing”, the title of the exhibition, was chosen because the life of the people represented in the EIPOP drawings is not a “dance on the volcano”, but an imaginary daring tightrope act at the very top of the urban skyscraper landmarks.

Die handkolorierten Zeichnungen sind klein, aber sie haben etwas sehrBesonderes. Nicht nur, weil jede vom Künstler EIPOP genannte Zeichnung von einem im Limerick Versmaß verfassten Gedicht begleitet wird. Sie sind auch bemerkenswert weil der zunächst naiv scheinende Inhalt und Stil der EIPOPs bei näherer Betrachtung von (Selbst-) Ironie, Spott und Humor geprägt ist. Die Art und Weise derDarstellungen und die Wahl der Themen erinnern entfernt an den deutschenExpressionismus was sich aus der deutschen Herkunft des Künstlers ableiten lässt. Die Themen der EIPOP Zeichnungen drehen sich ausschließlich um das vomKünstler selbst Erlebte vor dem Hintergrund der Dynamik großer Städte, des manchmal seltsam anmutende Verhaltens seiner Bewohner und des Besonderen imZusammenleben vieler verschiedener Menschen aus unterschiedlichen Kulturen.”Rooftop Dancing”, der Titel der Ausstellung, wurde gewählt, weil dasLeben der in den EIPOPs dargestellten Personen zwar kein “Tanz auf dem Vulkan”, aber ein als Amüsement empfundener gewagter Drahtseilakt auf der Spitze der zu Wahrzeichen derGroßstädte gewordenen Wolkenkratzer ist.

Les dessins colorés à la main sont petits, mais ils ont quelque chose de très spécial. Non seulement parce que chaque dessin nommé par l’artiste “EIPOP“est accompagné d’un poème écrit en rythme de Limerick. Ils sont également remarquables parce que le contenu et le style apparemment naïfs des EIPOPs se caractérisent par l’ironie, auto-ironie, le ridicule et l’humour à y regarder de plus près. La manière des représentations et le choix des thèmes rappellent un peu l’expressionnisme allemand, que l’on peut déduire des origines allemandes de l’artiste. Les thèmes d’EIPOPs tournent exclusivement autour dece que l’artiste lui-même a vécu. La dynamique des grandes villes, le comportement parfois étrange de leurs habitants et la particularité de la coexistence de nombreuses personnes de cultures différentes. “RooftopDancing”, le titre de l’exposition, a été choisi parce que la vie des personnes représentées dans les EIPOPs n’est pas une “danse sur le volcan”, mais un numéro de funambule audacieux au sommet des gratte-ciels urbains, vécu comme un amusement.

I disegni colorati a mano di Rudolf sono piccoli, ma hanno qualcosa di molto speciale. Non solo perché ogni disegno (chiamato “EIPOP”dall’artista) è accompagnato da una poesia scritta nel famoso ritmo diLimerick. Sono notevoli anche perché il loro contenuto e il loro stile apparentemente ingenuo è caratterizzato da (autoironia, derisione e umorismo.Il modo in cui le rappresentazioni e la scelta dei temi ricordano in qualche modo l’espressionismo tedesco, che si può dedurre dalle origini tedesche dell’artista.I temi dell’EIPOPs ruotano esclusivamente attorno ad eventi che l’artista stesso ha vissuto sullo sfondo delle dinamiche delle grandi città, dei comportamenti a volte strani dei loro abitanti e della convivenza colorata di molte persone di culture diverse. “Il titolo della mostra, “RooftopDancing”, è stato scelto perché la vita delle persone rappresentate nei di segni dell’EIPOP non è una “danza sul vulcano”, ma un atto immaginario e coraggioso di funambolismo in cima ai punti di riferimento dei grattacieli urbani.
